Scirocco Studios

Scirocco Studios is a touring exhibition to promote the launch of the VW
Scirocco, Traffic commissioned five creatives to come up with objects, images
and installations inspired by cars. The exhibition toured across the UK, in
Glasgow, Manchester, Bristol and London.

We created a series of rugs for the the exhibition using an ultrasonic
cutter. The idea started from seeing photos of marks left in the snow from
cars making slow turns in car parks. We also wanted to make a rug that could
link different areas of a room or house and so developed a simple modular
system of straights and various curves. The pattern in the tyre tread was
taken from a traditional moroccan border design.
